Bacteriostatic Water (USP) is sterile water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol (9 mg/mL). Benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth, allowing multiple vial entries over extended period.
Unlike sterile water for injection (must use immediately), bacteriostatic water can be used multiple times for up to 28 days when properly stored. Isotonic with neutral pH. Store at room temperature (20-25°C); discard 28 days after first use.
